My book Nuclear Power first appeared in 1976. Then came The Fissile Society: Energy, Electricity and the Nuclear Option, in 1977; The Plutonium Business and the Spread of the Bomb, in 1984; and Going Critical: An Unofficial History of British Nuclear Power, in 1985.

All four books have long been out of print. Rereading them in 2007, however, persuades us that they should once again be available, not only for the historical information they contain but for commentary that is all too often still vividly relevant.
