In 2000 the Institute of Energy, now the
Energy
Institute, in London awarded me its annual Melchett Medal.
For the medal presentation, at the London Planetarium on 22 June
2000, I delivered the Melchett lecture, which I called Energy
21: Making The World Work. In the original version I included a
passing compliment to the reported energy service activities of
Enron. It subsequently proved misleading, as did so much else
about Enron, and I have removed it. The lecture, however, still
summarizes succinctly my approach to energy in human society.
You can find the updated 2005 version of Energy
21 here.
